Dental Caddy For Dummies
client:

technology used:
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweaver

notes:
I designed the package to allow the customer to really envision how the product would be an asset in the home. Benefits and features are listed, as well as images of the product in use. The large window allows the customer to see as well as touch the product. I designed and coded the accompanying website (currently on hiatus), which also features other For Dummies products packages I designed. Although there is a style guide directing all packages and products under the For Dummies brand, there remains significant room for creative freedom and specific design.

Radio Station Identity Project
client:
CSUN ART341 Graphic Design Production
technology used:
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

Offline
notes:
I chose Indie 103.1 because it's a radio station I enjoy and that helped me dive right in with this project. Besides the obvious broadcasting notion, the skull logo communicates that this station caters to a younger audience and isn't afraid to show some edge. I chose darker color stationary to help set this company's stationary apart from others - an added benefit is that it was printed on recycled paper. As an additional advertising medium, I designed a bilboard with a minimal, yet effective message.

Package Redesign Project

technology used:
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Nikon D80

notes:
The objective of this project was to create the packaging for the next Adobe Creative Suite in what we determined to be a plausible progression. I carried over the square product icons that debuted with the CS3 suite and worked to give the packages a modern and sophisticated feel that reflected the technology and design-workhorses to be found inside. I used the artwork on the dieline to create a real-life mock-up of the Photoshop box.

City Branding
client:
CSUN ART444 Graphic Design III
technology used:
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canon SD800 IS
related links:

notes:
The assignment was to develop a logo and marketing artwork to identify a city and apply it to three sections of that city. I chose Paris in particular becasue it's a city I've visited and it presents a challenge to capture its connotations satisfactorily. The logo incorporates a graphical representation of the city showing the established arrondiesment city divisions, and features a fleur-de-lis and the red used in the actual Paris flag. The slogan sits underneath, or in the case of sectional applications, the name of the arrondiesment with a corresponding highlight on the map.

magazine two-page spread plus cover and toc project

CSUN ART244 Graphic Design I
technology used:
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

notes:
I enjoy off-roading in my free time so I chose a related magazine for this project. I designed it with a youthful edge in mind, but mainstream enough to be enjoyed by a general audience. Given that I knew this would only been seen in an academic context, I took greater creative freedom with the two-page spread than I might had this hit real newsstands.

magazine cover plus feature article project

notes:
This was an editorial project. We were simply given the copy and photos and asked to design the article. I gave it a look appropriate to the content and was careful to leave a healthy amount of whitespace in an effort to not let the article appear too cluttered. Unhappy with any available typefaces, I illustrated by hand the magazine title.

Stock Photography Catalog Project

CSUN ART341 Graphic Design Production
technology used:
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign

notes:
The idea here was to create a stock photography catalog. I chose a city dear to my heart for a theme and went out and shot every photograph shown in the project. I added some grunge for visual interest, but was mindful to not let it overpower the focus of the catalog - the photographs.

STATUS WHEELS 2008 CATALOG
client:
Status Wheels [Akira Graphics]
technology used:
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
related links:
http://www.statuswheels.com
notes:
This is only a comp - the project is currently in progress. I wanted to make the viewer not feel like he/she is looking at a typical catalog, but rather looking at a snapshot of the product in a real-world environment. Of course, this particular environment has been modified to showcase the wheels. I took care to make the product specifications readily apparent and readable. I assisted in the execution of design on their website and was involved in the coding process. Although their artisitic direction of their upcoming catalog is a bit of a departure from the 2007 catalog and website, it still maintains a sleek sense of sophistication and exclusivity.
